What will happen now?

It is interesting to now be old enough to have lived through and experienced multiple ups and downs in the market. Its impact on construction is very discernible.

Unfortunately for a "construction lawyer" it seems like our clients often ignore good fiscal practices and their collections, until work slows down and money gets tight - of course then they cannot afford to hire an attorney. As I may have mentioned in earlier posts, back in the mid 1980s, I attended a construction law conference in Chicago. A speaker asked where we as construction lawyers get clients, from the back of the room I quipped "bankruptcy court". My smart aleck comment elicited a number of concurring chuckles. Unfortunately, the years decades have passed but the
practices of small contractors have not. The past few years have been good to the construction industry - I suspect the next couple years will be tempering, particularly to the home construction industry.
